Poster Submission Requirements and Guidelines

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Abstracts can be submitted by a group of colleagues, firm, college or university, multi-disciplinary team, corporation, or an individual.
  •  Abstracts should highlight original research in projects emphasizing areas of quality improvement, evidence-based practices, or innovations related to the field of interior design.
  •  Abstracts may have been presented or published elsewhere, but the information must be current and relevant to our audience.
  •  No more than one (1) abstract can be submitted by the same individual, group, or team.
  •  Submission fee - $29
  •  Presenters are asked to disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the abstract submission content (e.g., commercial interest, affiliations with a vendor, and/or receipt of royalties) and affirm that their abstract presentations will not be used to sell a particular product or service.

     ****ASID has the right to rescind the acceptance of an abstract due to any conflict of interest that may be discovered which has not been disclosed.****

 

FORMAT FOR POSTER SESSION AT GATHER 2023:

  •  Posters will be presented in an open forum at the Welcome Reception on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, between 4:30 – 6:00pm in the Platinum D & E rooms.  At least one presenter must be present at the event during this time to be available for Q & A.
  •  Abstract work must be presented on a printed poster, formatted in a landscape orientation, measuring  a maximum of 72” width x 42” height.
  •  Posters must be displayed in their assigned space no later than 12:00pm on Sunday, August 13th, 2023 

 

WHAT MAKES A GOOD POSTER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION?

Submit an abstract describing the premise/thesis and relevance of the research to the field of interior design. Include an introductory paragraph outlining the purpose of the research and the importance of the topic to practitioners. Briefly explain the motivation behind the work, describe the methods used, and discuss its meaning or importance to the field of interior design.  Use the following format with suggested word count (based on 500 - 600 words, not including title or references): 

  • Title
  • Purpose/Introduction (max. 50-75 words)
  • Background (max. 100-125 words)
  • Methods  (max. 150 words)  
  • Results/Evaluation  (max. 100 words)
  • Conclusion  (max. 100 words)
  • Main Reference List (min. of 3, no more than 5)

Research Areas of Focus: (1) Design Practice; (2) Innovation (technology, approaches, methods, tools); (3) Policy / Advocacy; (4) Education; (5) Product Development or Project Design Outcomes
